Benoit - New York

Benoit, by star chef Alain Ducasse, is just a step above a typical bistro. The space is ‘pretty’ with lots of French-speaking waiters and staff.

The menu features as-you-would-expect bistro fares.  Shortly after guests are seated, amuse-bouches are served as compliments of the chef – nice touch.  In true French fashion, the skinny, crusty baguette and the perfectly salted butter were really outstanding.  The starters such as the paté en croute, the onion soup and the foie gras terrine were okay, but not memorable. During a visit, the daily entrée special of coq au riesling was served in an adorable Le Creuset pot and was tasty.  The cassoulet and the skate were both delicious options.

The bar features nice selections of wines and champagnes by the glass and also some old stand-by cocktails.  Pimm’s Cockatil anyone?
