Dominican Republic Honeymoon Vacation

The Dominican Republic is located in the Caribbean and shares the island of Hispaniola with the smaller country of Haiti. The ecosystem of the Dominican Republic is very diverse and includes both the highest mountain in the Caribbean, Pico Duarte, as well as the lowest point in the Caribbean, Lake Enriguillo.  This varied landscape is one of the many reasons newlyweds travel from all over the world to enjoy a Dominican Republic honeymoon vacation.

If you are looking for some adventure on your Dominican Republic honeymoon vacation, try kite boarding on Kite Beach in Cabarete or white water rafting along the Yaque del Norte, one of the longest rivers in the Caribbean.  You can also sail along the Chavon River, where the movies King Kong, Apocalypse Now and Rambo were filmed. Beach lovers will want their Dominican Republic honeymoon vacation to include trips to Puerto Plata and La Romana. Be sure to visit Fun-Fun cave, the largest cave in the Caribbean and don’t forget to take a tour of the Cave of Wonders, the first natural museum of ancient art.  Make sure you take your camera when visiting the colonial zone of Santo Domingo.  Pictures taken of you and your loved one in this historic town would make a lovely addition to your Dominican Republic honeymoon vacation photo album.

Avoid booking your Dominican Republic honeymoon vacation during hurricane season, which runs from June through October.  Instead, opt for visiting the Dominican Republic during whale watching season, which runs from January through March.
