Destination Wedding Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is a Caribbean island that truly offers something for everyone.  Only 2 ½ hours from Miami, many people overlook Puerto Rico as an option when planning a Caribbean destination wedding, but it is actually one of the best options out there.  With temperatures consistently in the mid-80s, Puerto Rico destination weddings can happen any time of year.
Whether you’re looking for city life in San Juan or secluded beaches on the island of Vieques, your Puerto Rico destination wedding will be full of entertainment and beauty.
San Juan is full of historic forts, houses, churches, and other sites to be explored hand in hand with your loved one by day.  Come nighttime, they offer everything from fish shacks to fine cuisine.  The staples in Puerto Rican cuisine are rice, beans, pork, and plantains; all 4 are readily available on almost every street corner.  After dinner sip on a Piña Colada, the drink was invented in Puerto Rico.

Throughout the island you will find championship golf courses, sunset horseback riding, scuba diving, snorkeling, shopping, and hiking.  Don’t miss the opportunity to walk through the rain forest in El Yunque Park, where you can see and hear many endangered species and share a kiss under waterfalls.

Once you’ve had enough of the main island, pack your bags and head to Vieques, or Little Island, 18 miles East of Puerto Rico.  It offers an interesting glimpse into non-touristic life, though the numbers of tourists coming to the Little Island have been rising in recent years.  Because it was a US military base during the main years of Puerto Rican development, in the place of chain hotels and large resorts you now find miles of uninterrupted, private beach perfect for a wedding or destination honeymoon.
The highlight of Little Island is the bioluminescent bay, Mosquito Bay.  Whenever there is movement in the water, the dinoflagellates dart around to light up the sea with a blue-green glow.  The best way for you and your loved one to experience this mystical place is by kayak.
And if for some reason the occasional glimpse of other humanity seems too much for you on this destination wedding and honeymoon, you can make and appointment to visit Mona Island, which is only inhabited by wildlife.
