Destination Wedding Grenada

“The Spice of the Caribbean,” Grenada has more spices per square mile than any other global destination, and is sure to add flare to your destination wedding.
Nutmeg is the spice of choice here; 1/3 of the planet’s nutmeg is produced locally, though Grenada also has ginger, cloves, and cinnamon.  The smell wafting on the warm Caribbean breeze can’t help but take you back to mother’s kitchen.
St. George, the nation’s capital, is dotted with old French and English architecture.  The reputed most beautiful city in the Caribbean is perfect for taking long walks with your fiancé to see a bit of West Indian history.   Then stop for a romantic meal in a converted waterfront warehouse (the re-vamped neighborhood is called the Carenage).   Try callaloo soup, made with spinach and okra, followed by nutmeg ice cream, both local specialties, while you take in the views of the horse-shoe shaped harbor.
Grenada is actually made up of three islands: Carriacou, Petit Martinique and Grenada, though this article focuses on the island Grenada.  A hike through Grand Etang Park will be a delight for you whole destination wedding party; the 30-acre volcanic crater is now a lake.  The views of Mt. Qua Qua, Mt. St. Catherine, and the island itself are surreal.
This is all on top of the two major reasons people travel to the Caribbean: the reefs and the beaches.  Grenada has excellent examples of both.  As a volcanic island, Grenada is home to both black and white sand beaches.  One of the most famous is the Grand Anse beach, with 2 miles of sand.  Reefs can be found off of both Grenada and Carriacou for an impressive look at the natural life found only in the Caribbean.
