Wine Country - British Columbia

The Okanagan Valley is known for lakes and watersports - and recently has come into it's own for wine.  There are about 100 wineries and a few breweries scattered along an 80 mile stretch of highway from Vernon down to the border with Washington.

The more Northern wineries specialize more with delicious white wines and some Eis wines.  The furthest South serve mostly reds.

Along the way we drove off the main road and down lanes to find 'Dirty Laundry' - we wanted to take something home to our friends and giving them 'Dirty Laundry' seemed fun..

A beautiful winery - with a lovely gift shop - is Mission Hill Family Estate - lovely grounds and delicious wines.

Our favorite was a stop at Burrowing Owl - dining  in the restaurant looking out over vineyards as we enjoyed great food and great wine.....in fact we bought 3 bottles to bring home and enjoy....

There are many activities - enough to fill a week - with every day full of golfing - eating tree ripened fresh peaches (in season) -driving the back roads - cultural  centers  - enjoying lake activities - and visiting wineries.....
