Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino

Set on the pristine shores of North Lake Tahoe, Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe is not just a ski retreat. It’s an all-season oasis for anyone who loves the natural splendor of the Sierra Nevada juxtaposed against the largest alpine lake in North America. The pine-scented air is nourishing in the warmer months, and invigorating in the cooler months.

Don’t confuse the glitzy, casino-laden region of South Lake Tahoe with the more secluded, natural setting of the North. While North Lake Tahoe still has a few casinos, including one at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, the focus is not gambling but Mother Nature.

The low-rise lodge blends seamlessly with the surrounding pine forest, and the stone-walled lobby area with homey fireplace welcomes anytime. Missing is the typical soaring Hyatt atrium; here, the emphasis is on warm and cozy ambience, stone walls, comfortable club chairs, and a relaxed setting.

The location is perfect as it is steps from the lake, and in front of its Lone Eagle restaurant, which is detached from the main building and regular guest rooms, stands the Hyatt’s own private beach. Swimming, sailing, sunning, picnicking, and even cruises around Lake Tahoe are pleasurable past-times. And golf, fishing, horseback, hiking, biking are all available for the outdoor enthusiasts.

And if your pleasures are more sedate, the Hyatt Lake Tahoe has an incredible spa (definitely splurge for a deep-tissue massage) and just recently updated its wonderful heated outdoor pool area (you can enter the pool from indoors and swim outdoors) and outdoor Jacuzzis. Imagine soaking in a 101 degree Jacuzzi outdoors with the snow all around you and the mountains as your backdrop. Tired of relaxing in a hot tub? Then hop out and warm yourself by one of the firepits with a mug of hot chocolate. And when you’re tired of all that relaxing, try out their high-tech Fitness Center with all the equipment you’d expect. Naturally, they also offer their Camp Hyatt program. One of the things Hyatt does so well, and this resort in particular, is marry a romantic setting with a family-friendly orientation. Not easily done, and very few resorts do that well. Hyatt succeeds.

Hyatt recently renovated all its guest rooms, updating for comfort, technology, and style. Choose from standard rooms to mountainview rooms to spa terrace rooms. And new to the Hyatt Lake Tahoe is the addition of 24 lakeside cottages with their own fireplaces, kitchenettes, and latest amenities like plasma TV. Very cozy indeed for a romantic getaway or family get-together!

All that brisk outdoor air stirs up a hunger. And Hyatt Lake Tahoe has 3 restaurants (plus two seasonal casual grilles) and an inviting saloon to sate your hunger or quench your thirst.

There’s so much to commend about Hyatt Lake Tahoe—from the gorgeous location to the service to the luxury amenities and relaxing ambience. It’s one of my favorite places to unwind along the California-Nevada border and rejuvenate my body and psyche.
