Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch

My first visit to Scottsdale was an unexpected delight. My inaccurate preconceptions of this trendy, upscale destination banished as I relaxed into the warmth of the people and climate and the diversity of the landscape. Red-orange mountains rise dramatically from the desert floor and contrast neatly to green sagebrush and cacti. The Native American culture is palpable and imbues the experience. The arts scene is lively, and downtown Scottsdale is peppered with galleries, restaurants, and lounges for a thriving nightlife.

And on the outskirts of Scottsdale, The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch adds its own Southwest flair.
Spacious accommodations and materials that reflect the Southwestern landscape. The famous deep, plus Hyatt bed. A large bathroom with plush robes and upscale bath amenities. Terrace or balcony to drink in those Southwestern sunsets.
A unique water playground creates a cooling oasis in the desert. It consists of two and a half acres of ten interconnected swimming pools, a three-story water slide, a sandy ‘beach’, whirlpool spa, and two poolside bars to quench thirst and hunger. Or enjoy a romantic gondola ride on their lagoon while a classically-trained singer/gondolier serenades you under a full moon.
Spa Avania will soothe away muscle aches as you surrender to serenity. As you would expect, there are indoor treatment rooms, but I suggest you opt for one of their outdoor garden treatment rooms with a private entrance for the ultimate in intimacy, privacy, and relaxation. More water features in Spa Avania, such as a lotus pond and heated mineral pool and hot and cold plunges, to enhance your spa experience.Or you can simply meditate or read a book in the trellis-covered outdoor relaxation area.
Golf? Of course. Twenty seven holes with the McDowell Mountains as your backdrop. Plus tennis courts along with pro instruction if you’re so inclined. A host of other activities, such as horseback riding or Native American workshops, are fun and enlightening. And there’s even a free shuttle for local shopping. Their expert concierge staff can handle any activity requests or recommendations. And naturally there’s a Camp Hyatt for children.
As for evening entertainment, there is always some special musical treat in the lobby or lounges. My favorite is Ricardo Griego for his original guitar compositions that are at once haunting and energizing—make sure you get one of his CDs to remind you of your Hyatt Scottsdale experience.
Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch is a fulfilling destination for couples in need of pampered relaxation, for fun girl-getaways, and for families who want a little something different.
