Tips on Planning a Destination Wedding

So you are planning a destination wedding with your hunny. Where do you start? Here are some tips to help you out. Enjoy!

1.    Start Early
It is best to start planning early. As we all know it takes plenty of time to plan a traditional wedding, but with a Destination wedding you have to account for getting your funds together as well as the guests that you plan on attending to make this moment in your life extra special.

2.    Pick a Location
You may have an idea of where you want to go but make sure you do your homework on a destination before choosing them. You need to know what is going to be best for your budget and your guests. You also need to know the legal requirements to get married in the country you plan on getting married in. You can always try and plan the destination wedding yourself but you should look into bringing a travel agent on board to help with the details. You should choose someone who specializes in the romance department because this is their niche and they will work hard for you to create a memorable experience.

3.    Look at what the different resorts have to offer.
You should always look into what extra perks you can get booking as a group sometimes you can get a free room when booking a certain amount of rooms.  Also majority of the Caribbean resorts offer some type of complimentary wedding packages depending on a certain length of stay or room category that you book.

4.    Check to see if a Wedding coordinator is included.
Now if you have chosen to go with a travel agent they will take care of getting there and where you will be staying. But when it comes down to the final details for your wedding you want someone to be there with you every step of the way. You will need someone who will take care of getting everything together s that you can relax and have a good time with your significant other and your friends and family.

5.    Get a wedding/honeymoon registry.
Often these registries are FREE. You create the registry and add certain items that you would like taken care of for your honeymoon.  I have had a few clients to where their entire honeymoon including tours and excursions was paid for. You can visit www.honeymoonwishes.com/ to get more information on how to set –up your registry.

6.    Keep guests informed
Make sure that you keep a list of the guests that will be coming with you. You want to make sure that they know the deposit dates, itinerary, and when final payment is due. You also need to make sure that everyone has the required travel documents. If you have a travel agent helping you, you can have them make these very important calls to your family members.

7.    The Honeymoon
Decide whether you will be having your honeymoon at the same resort/destination or if you would like to travel somewhere else.  This is very important because you will need to plan this early as well. Some things that my clients have done in the past is stayed at the same resort but their friends and family left the day after the wedding leaving them time alone to spend time with each other without the distractions. Also some of the resorts and Cruise lines offer special honeymoon packages that you can take advantage of. This is where the knowledge from a travel agent is special.

8.    Relax
Relax because that big day is coming up and you want it to be as stress free as possible.  So Relax, Relax, Relax, and Enjoy this time together. You will be creating great memories with each other from here on out so why not start it out right.
