Destination Wedding gem in the Riviera Maya

El Dorado Casitas Royale Resort in Riviera Maya.

This past August, I was invited to visit this fun, all-inclusive boutique property.  I really wanted to get a first hand review, since they are currently offering great deals for bridal parties, including free rooms for the couple and a free Sweet Wedding.

Nestled along the beach in a separate, secluded area within El Dorado Royale on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, El Dorado Casitas Royale by Karisma is an adults-only resort designed for romance. A nice array of amenities and services makes this a good destination for romantic getaways, weddings, honeymoons, and anniversaries.

Not at all worried about the very over publicized swine flu, I was thrilled to spend 4 nights in the very chic area south of Cancun called the Riviera Maya.  This area has great resorts and soft, powder white beaches.

The El Dorado Royale Resort is located 30 minutes south of the Cancun airport.  I was dropped off at the front of a lovely set of stairs.  I later saw how spacious and beautiful the lobby was.  But instead of standing in line at the front desk, as a guest of the Casitas Royale, I was shuttled with my bag to a smaller concierge lobby where I was seated with champagne and experienced a private check-in.

My room was large enough to move in.  The clean white tiles felt good under my feet.  Off to the right of the large wooden door was the huge bathroom, definitely intended for two.  Here I found double sinks, a large soaking tub and shower, and a private outdoor shower for two. Further into the room, I enjoyed a large screen TV with plenty of cable and music channels (great for setting the mood), a table for 2 with a welcome fruit basket, a stocked mini-bar, a gorgeous king size bed, a corner jacuzzi stocked with, salts and champagne.  My room was on the second floor with a large, private balcony.  Other suites include the Infinity Pool Suite with your own private plunge pool,  and the River Suite where you literally can walk out of your room into a private lazy river.  Another nice thing about the Casitas is the privacy.  Each Casita building is in its own small half circle with a bar, pool, concierge, and beach access.  I never felt crowded or overwhelmed with people, even at this large resort.

The meals are works of art. I almost did not want to disturb my plates, they were so pretty.  By far some of the best food at any all-inclusive I have experienced.  The emphasis here is not on buffet lines, but on quality, fresh food creating great dinner experiences.

I tasted each of the 10 cake offerings the European cakemaker has to offer.  They are delicious, although I took notes and I do have my favorites.  The resort will accommodate any request.  If you don’t like their cake or flower choices, they will gladly re-create whatever you ask of them.  Unlike other resorts where the packages are preset and unable to be changed, the El Dorado resort staff makes it easy to put on the wedding of your dreams.  They will literally accomplish whatever you desire.

Honeymooners at the El Dorado resorts will receive extra experiences.  I would love to tell you something negative to balance out the good, but I did not experience anything less than great during my stay.  The included 24 hr. room service, the fabulous spa with its unique hydrotherapy rooms, the enthusiasm and great english of the staff (the resort gives english lessons on site during work hours) made for a great stay!  I haven’t stopped talking about this place yet.  Isn’t that exactly how you want you guests to feel?
