Holiday Inn York

Frankly, this hotel is not a ‘drive-by’. Its unimpressive exterior belies the cozy charms inside. Bright, friendly, clean—a very relaxing sojourn for an overnight or couple of days’ stay in York.

Spacious and clean rooms with all the basic amenities you’d expect and then some—like a large soaking tub which was especially relaxing after a tiring day of sightseeing by foot.

Our room overlooked a woodsy garden area, and we opened our windows to breathe in the fresh scent of England’s drizzle that had just started. We made ourselves a cup of tea with the in-room tea/coffee supplies, propped up our feet, and unwound.

The dining room serves a substantial breakfast buffet along with menu items for lunch and dinner. Two quaint pubs are directly across the street from the hotel for additional dining and beverage options.

The hotel is located a short five-minute drive outside York’s fortified city walls, so it’s extremely convenient for exploring this charming, historical city.

The Holiday Inn York offers up a wonderful value and rates two thumbs up from this reviewer.
