Shakespeare Country
Stratford-upon Avon is the perfect place to base yourself for an exploration of the surrounding area know as "Shakespeare Country" Stratford-upon-Avon is an ancient market town famous not only as the birthplace of William Shakespeare but also for its many beautiful half-timbered buildings.
Along with the possibility of attending a performance of one of his plays at one of the Shakespeare theatres, you will have the opportunity to visit the five Shakespeare Houses in the area on a double decker sightseeing tour. These will be enjoyed by family members of all ages whether fans of Shakespeare or not. Costumed guides bring history to life in all the houses. At Mary Arden's farm. (Shakespeare's mother's home) children will enjoy the falconry, farm animals and many special activities scheduled throughout the year.
Back in town, you can enjoy the many shops and restaurants along with a promenade walk along the scenic River Avon alive with swans and ducks.
