Tripology Travel Experts Blog: Rio

Brazil

We are taking a cruise from Manaus Brazil to Fort Lauderdale Florida.  We will enjoy 5 days sailing down the Amazon river aboard the Royal Princess.

As a travel agent and I have a concern about the Olympics coming to Rio.

Brazil has requirements that will be costing the American public a few dollars.  A yellow fever vaccination is one requirement. The other is a Visa.

There are 2 options for obtaining a Visa - either on your own or through a Visa Service.

The Visa purchased through the Consulate General of Brazil is $130.00 and even more expensive when purchased through a Visa Service.  It also takes about a month to complete the process.

The Brazilian Consulate has this on their web page:

In order to ensure a timely processing of all visa applications, the Consulate General of Brazil in San Francisco will receive 42 (forty two) visa applications per day from applicants and their immediate family(*) who come in person to the Consulate, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
