Italian Villas

Here's an email that I received from clients for whom I booked some Italian villas:

We’re sitting here in our 15th century kitchen in Grezzana, having just finished our 21st century cornflake breakfast. "Spielberg" is off trying to capture some of the beauty that surrounds us. It's quite spectacular! This place is a sprawling old Italian villa, of which our section is three levels of terracotta floors and marble and timber steps. The bathroom is huge; I'll be able to shave my legs in the shower, woohoo! Our room is about 40m2 and even the bed is massive. It's separated from the kids' room by a huge drawing room with big book cases, old arm chairs, and a beautiful fire place. The kitchen sink is a piece of art, made of rough old rose marble, over a meter long, but only about 2 inches deep!

Within the first hour of arrival, the boys managed to tip the swing set over onto Luke. He started crying, Ryan started crying, Stephen started running, and (once I knew everyone was okay) I started laughing.

Later we walked to the local shops, a pleasant five minutes away, and got a few necessities as shops don’t open on Sundays round here. You feel like you are on a beautiful country acreage, but you are right in the middle of a little town! We went to the local butcher, who didn't speak a word of English but gave the boys a lolly each and conveyed that we were welcome to a complimentary tray of goodies. Amazing!

On the way here, we stopped off at (wait for it) the FERRARI FACTORY!!! It was everything you'd expect and more, with all manner of Ferraris displayed in pristine workshop conditions. You've never seen so much red in your life! Apparently there is a valid engineering reason for this - it makes the cars go faster. Proven fact!

Today we will look for the old city of Verona (always best to do on a Sunday with no traffic around) and explore the grounds and town. I know we will love it here; it's absolutely gorgeous. It also makes us feel more secure about the quality of the next two places, as they are both booked through you.

Best be off for my second cup of coffee and then try out that spectacular shower!
